The City Area Program is one of the policies of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for promoting science and technology in local regions. It aims to foster and develop industries that focus on regional characteristics by promoting regional cooperation among industry (private companies), academia (universities, etc.), and government (public research and experiment institutions, etc.). The program matches "seeds with needs," the seeds of wisdom held by universities and research institutions, with the needs of private companies, in order to generate new technologies and to create new businesses that contribute to the region, as well as aiming to establish a continuous and independent foundation for collaboration among industry, academia, and government.

The City Area Program was ended on March 31, 2012. Thank you for much support.
